UT Dining (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to respecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our app handles your information when you use UT Dining.

1. Information We Collect

We do not collect any personally identifiable information (such as name, email, or phone number).

However, we may collect certain non-personal, technical information automatically to improve the app’s performance and user experience:

  • Location Data (with your permission): Used to show your location on the campus map. This data stays on your device and is not sent to our servers.
  • Device & Usage Data: We use analytics tools (such as PostHog) to anonymously track general app usage patterns, crashes, and performance issues. This helps us improve the app but does not personally identify you.

2. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services in our app:

  • Supabase – For backend functionality like content and data delivery
  • PostHog – For anonymous usage analytics and performance tracking

We do not share any user data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

3. Data Storage

All user data is stored locally on your device. We do not store your data on our servers.

  • Data is retained only for as long as the app remains installed.
  • If you delete the app, all locally stored data is permanently removed.
  • As data is not stored on our servers, there is no account or cloud-based data to delete or manage.

4. Permissions We Request

The app may request the following permissions:

  • Location Access – To show your current location on the interactive campus map
  • Notifications – To alert you about dining hall closures, special hours, or new menu updates

These permissions are optional and can be managed through your device settings.

5. Children’s Privacy

UT Dining is intended for general use and is not designed for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal data from children.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. If we make significant changes, we’ll notify you in the app or through an app update.
